![]() Sometimes I’ll be waiting at the stop for 40 minutes because they wouldn’t log on to see where the bus was at. Multiple times I had to call back 20 minutes later and say it hasn’t showed up yet where is it, at which they would then say they were sorry but for sure within 10 or 15 minutes. Anytime I called in all they could tell me was 20 to 30 minutes and they would never tell me where the bus was actually at. My biggest issue with this is any time I was trying to Plan went to get on the bus, I came in January and it was freezing so I would try to stay inside until the bus got close. Signage could be better, as long as you call In or ask a local then you can be directed to a stop pretty easily. I loved the tour and most of my tour guides I had did a great job of explaining what things were and where my stops were. i would recommend this as a great way of seeing the city and hopefully on our return visit we can experience it at night. Overall we really rated our experience, we didn't hop off we decided to stay the duration and take in everything which did mean after 2 hours on there we were very much ready for a hot drink and warmth. i must admit as nice and chiper as he was i did find him bit cringey referring to NY as ' my city' and the occasional awkward comments he made to myself and the lady sat with her partner to the left i know he would have been being nice but it was a little bit try hard and over the top at times. We made use of the headphones and although they cut out a few times were good so you could listen to Bernie and take in all the history and knowledge he had to share which you can tell he is very proud and passionate about his home town. We were lucky enough the weather although cold, was sunny and pleasant so it made for good visibility of the sites and it was a really enjoyable tour. We then decided to move to the middle so my husband who is an active photographer could take pictures and we could take in the sites a bit better. We boarded the bus and sat at the front at the top initially next to another english couple and were greeted by Bernie who was our tour guide for the day-he was friendly and enthusiastic and made conversation. On going to the big bus office next to Madame Tussauds the lady who served us was lacking basic customer service or manners and was really not very helpful at all but we did book two tickets just for the day to do the open bus tour as it was on our itinerary and ticklist to do. Sadly this was actually an added extra option which was not clearly stated. We did initially think that the big bus tour was part of the build your own pass we had booked before our visit. ![]() If you want a perfect tour, pay more on a different tour, but you will have to stick to their timeline Read more Yes there is traffic but that’s not their fault. Comments saying to take the subway are ignoring the fact that seeing the city above ground is something someone who hasn’t been to nyc should do vs just seeing a couple random sites. If you want to be able to see the city on your own schedule, from the top of a bus, then do this. They have various songs that are related to nyc in between comments, and one or two were rap, not a big deal. Same thing with the ‘rap music’ comments. Comments about the girl having a high pitched voice are silly. You can bring your own along if you are worried. They stopped having live guides on these years ago when technology advanced. Otherwise it would probably be rainy and miserable, so pick a small group tour that has cover and AC. If it’s going to rain on your trip, plan this for a day that it isn’t (if there is one). Be smart and go first thing in the morning, and that way you can get on the buses when they aren’t as crowded at first. I read a lot of reviews before going so was worried there would be problems, but it was just like any other hop on hop off tour.
